History

CHRONOLOGY OF AUTONOMY

The Institute of Management Sciences, a pioneering business school in the region, began as a bold experiment that at once reformed public sector higher education and became a revolutionary model for the academic world. This government body of higher education grew out of the University of Peshawar; however, as a public sector academic institution, its uniqueness lies in its dual status as an autonomous government body. This self-governing administrative structure facilitates a more dynamic adaptation to the rapidly changing demands of the academic and professional worlds. The Institute’s independent organizational structure also allows for a larger endowment which enables students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds to benefit from the institute’s pledge of world-class education.

Established in May 1995, the Institute of Management Sciences was the first of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkha to encourage education based on research and training in the fields of business administration, management sciences, and related disciplines. Initially, IMSciences offered only two programs with a meager strength of 180 students; however, gradually the Institute started incorporating a range of new programs into the academic structure which further resulted in significant increase in the student body. In view of its rapid growth owing to the dedication of the founding faculty, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa decided to grant autonomous status to the Institute in 1999. Consequently, the Institute’s policy-making was placed with the Board of Governors headed by the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkha. This eighteen member BOG is the supreme policy formulation and executive body of the Institute and comprises of distinguished educationists, industrialists, corporate executives, and representatives of the Provincial and Federal Government. Although it evolved from the University of Peshawar, today, IMSciences awards its own degree under the aegis of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

Each year, the enrollment level of the students increases by 100% which reflects successful maintenance of the Institute’s high repute among the populace. Perhaps the best measure of the Institute’s credibility is the success of its alumni: IMSciences graduates have taken up positions of leadership in entrepreneurial firms, leading companies, and public as well as private sector organizations across the country.

The above fees/charges are subject to revision from time to time.

 

Admission Cancellation Policy:

In case a student cancels/withdraws his/her admission, 100% fee is refundable if the student applies within 07 days of commencement of classes. 50% fee is refundable if the student applies after 07 days, th but before 15 days of commencement of classes. Thereafter, the student will not be entitled to any refund of fees, dues, etc.

Fees and dues charged are meant for the semester as a whole and cannot be apportioned on the basis of courses offered or duration of the semester. However, in case a student is required to repeat a course / courses, he may be charged fees and dues in the proportion of the said course / courses opted by him / her.

The students are required to deposit all fees, etc by the due date failing which late-fee/fine will be charged at the rates given below :

For the first month- Rs.10/- per day.

For the second month - Rs.20/-per day.

For the third month - Rs.30/-per day.

For the fourth month & onward - Rs.40/-per day.

In case a student fails to pay the dues along with fee even after the lapse of four months, he will automatically lose his/her right of enrollment in the semester and his/her name will be removed from the rolls of the Institute.

A 50% concession in tuition fee will be granted to those students whose brother(s) and sister(s) are already studying in the Institute.
